Overview

This is an 8 week course. Each week consists of an 8 hour class. This course is designed to familiarise medical professionals with the requirements of the OET and assist them in developing the requisite English skills in the 4 areas of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking.

Unlike IELTS, all language aspects of the OET are directly related to the needs of overseas trained doctors who wish to practise in Australia.

Course Structure

Subject 1- Reading:

• Requirements and strategies for Part A and Part B of the Reading test
• Practice tests and analysis of strategies applied

Subject 2 – Writing:

• Analysis of the criteria for the Writing task
• Techniques
• Feedback relating to grammar, vocabulary, appropriateness of language used, cohesion and layout of letter, comprehension of case notes and overall task fulfilment

Subject 3 – Listening:

• Listening and note-taking strategies for Part A and Part B of the Listening test
• Practice tests and analysis of strategies applied

Subject 4 – Speaking:

• Role play requirements
• Role play practice
• Feedback on role plays
• Relevant advanced vocabulary, idioms, grammar
• Pronunciation

Workshop Importance

Passing the OET with grades A or B can help you with finding a job and also eligible for AHPRA registration.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the course the participant is expected to be more familiar with all the subtest of OET such as the Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. In that way they would be more confident on taking the test.
